Comprehensive
Bridge HDT is an extension of the regular educational program. At The Bridge, we also believe that cognitive and socio-emotional development go hand in hand and we are committed to stimulating “whole child” development through engaging children’s entire networks.
Development
The Bridge’s constant evolution is based on a collective learning process which involves all layers of the organization.
Evidence-based
Our HDT projects are based on evidence and the projects are always investigated scientifically by independent research teams.

Personalized instruction
The tutoring takes place in a fixed 1-on-2 setting. Using input from each school, pairs of pupils are determined based on academic performance and behavioral tendencies. Thanks to the small group setting, extensive attention can be offered to general and socio-emotional development.
Customization
Individualized lesson planning allows Bridge tutors to offer math assignments geared specifically to the needs and interests of each student. Our tutors work with pupils on word problems and academic development more generally.
Intensive
The pupils receive 2.5 to 5 hours of tutoring per week for an entire school year. This is intensive, thus the term “High Dosage.”

During regular school hours
The tutoring is embedded in the regular school day. The tutoring takes place during normal school hours according to a fixed schedule in a separate room within the school set up specifically for HDT.
Partnerships with each school
The project manager (Site Director) is the main contact person for each school and their maintenance of contact with classroom teachers and counselors generates insights into how pupils are progressing generally as well as specifically with regard to our math instruction.
Parental engagement
Tutors maintain close contact with parents/caregivers regarding their child’s progress. We see parents/caregivers as key partners in ongoing conversations.

Evidence-based
Our Bridge HDT projects are based on evidence and they are always evaluated by a team of independent researchers from the University of Amsterdam. The High Dosage Tutoring approach was originally developed in the United States where it has repeatedly been shown to be highly effective. The results from our first completed project at the Mundus Secondary School were positive and significant both in terms of cognitive and socio-emotional development.

And then you can apply the different steps to the word problems and you have these steps in your head so you can solve the difficult math problems, without making any mistakes.Pupils in 5th grade (May 2019)
I experience Bridge HDT projects as well-oiled machines in which motivated tutors and kids work on math together.Substitute tutor/project assistant (September 2019)
It was clearly set up beforehand. The project is well organized: The kids know what to expect and they remain will informed. The contact with parents and parental engagement have surpassed my expectations.School counselor (October 2018)
